Question Banks

  • What’s the difference between Benchmark, Standard, Apex, and Black Diamond?

    Each tier increases in difficulty:

    • Benchmark ($70): Introductory to moderate difficulty. Great for starting a study block or identifying weak areas.
    • Standard ($45): Moderate to advanced. Mirrors true exam feel with balanced question weighting.
    • Apex ($45): Advanced. Features multi-step reasoning with tighter distractors and timing pressure—ideal for final prep.
    • Black Diamond ($45): Expert level. Our hardest questions with dense cross-system cases—perfect for final-week drilling.
  • How many questions are in each tier?

Each tier contains a robust set of exam-authentic questions:

    • Benchmark: 318 questions per exam
    • Standard: 160 questions per exam
    • Apex: 160 questions per exam
    • Black Diamond: 160 questions per exam
  • Can I access multiple tiers at the same time?

Yes! If you purchase multiple tiers, you can access them all simultaneously. Many students start with Benchmark, progress to Standard mid-block, and use Apex or Black Diamond for final prep. You can also purchase our bundles, which give you discounted access to multiple tiers.

  • Are the questions updated regularly?

Yes! We update our question banks quarterly with new questions, refined explanations, and improvements based on recent exam trends and student feedback. Updates are automatically available to users with active access.

  • Do you offer questions for all USMLE/COMLEX exams?

We currently offer question banks for Step 2 CK as our launch product. We’re expanding to include Step 1, Step 3, COMLEX Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, and Shelf Exams by early 2026. Subscribe to our newsletter or check back soon for updates!

Technical Issues

  • Can I use MedBoardEducation offline?

Our question banks and courses are primarily web-based and require an internet connection to access. However, PDF reviewers can be downloaded and viewed offline.

  • I’m having trouble logging in. What should I do?

First, verify you’re using the correct email address and password. If you’ve forgotten your password, click “Forgot Password” on the login page to reset it. A few things to try:

    2. Clear your browser cache and cookies
    3. Try a different browser (Chrome, Firefox, or Safari)
    4. Check your internet connection speed
    5. Disable browser extensions that might slow performance
    6. Try a different device if you have another one

If it’s still slow after trying these, email us at support@medboardeducation.com with details about your device and browser, and we’ll investigate.

  • I’m getting an error when trying to download a PDF reviewer.

Try downloading on a different device or browser first to narrow down the issue. Make sure you have enough storage space and that you’re not using a VPN (which can sometimes block downloads). If the error persists, contact support@medboardeducation.com with the error message you’re seeing, and we’ll help troubleshoot.

Content & Study Tips

  • How should I use these question banks in my study plan?

    Here’s a suggested approach:

    • Early prep (Weeks 1-4): Use Benchmark to assess your baseline knowledge and identify weak areas.
    • Mid-prep (Weeks 5-8): Progress to Standard for realistic exam conditions with balanced weighting.
    • Late prep (Weeks 9-11): Use Apex for advanced, complex questions to push your thinking deeper.
    • Final week: Use Black Diamond as your stress test and confidence builder before exam day.

Of course, adjust based on your timeline and study style!

  • Should I start with Benchmark or jump to Standard?

We recommend starting with Benchmark unless you’re already very confident in your foundational knowledge. Benchmark gives you a clear picture of where you stand, which helps guide your prep strategy. If you find Benchmark too easy, you can always move up to Standard faster.

    • Questions answered and correct/incorrect breakdown
    • Performance by topic
    • Weak areas and knowledge gaps
    • Progress over time
